Digital wallet

Also called e-wallet, mobile wallet

A service such as Apple Pay, Google Pay or PayPal that stores a player's payment details and lets them pay with a tap or a login in place of typing a card number.

Wallets come in two kinds. Apple Pay and Google Pay wrap an existing card, so the payment still runs on card rails at card pricing. PayPal and similar wallets hold an account of their own and set their own fees.

Worldpay’s 2026 Global Payments Report puts digital wallets at 56% of global e-commerce value in 2025, and 77% of online spend in Asia Pacific (Worldpay). On a phone, a wallet also spares a player who has left the game for your web shop from typing in card details.

Pricing follows the type, as of September 2026. Braintree charges the same 2.89% + 29¢ for cards and third-party digital wallets in the US, and Aghanim’s MoR fee covers Apple Pay and Google Pay. PayPal Checkout costs 3.49% + 49¢ in the US (PayPal), and Lemon Squeezy adds 1.5% for PayPal payments. On a $4.99 pack, PayPal’s fixed 49¢ alone is almost 10% of the price. See payment methods.
