Payout

Also called disbursement, remittance

The transfer of settled funds, minus fees, refunds, chargebacks and any reserve, from a payment provider or merchant of record to the studio's bank account.

The payout is the number that reaches your bank, and it can sit well below gross sales. Every provider sets its own schedule, minimum and fees.

As of September 2026, Paddle pays monthly, by the 15th, above a $100 minimum, may charge a $15 SWIFT fee in some countries, and can take up to 1.5% to convert currency. FastSpring charges 2.5% if your store and payout currencies differ. Aghanim pays in US dollars within 30 days of month-end and holds balances under $1,000. Xsolla’s FAQ says “We don’t pay out early” (Xsolla). Stripe’s standard payouts are free, and instant payouts cost 1.5% in the US.

Payout terms are also counterparty risk. When Digital River, an MoR that had processed “over $30 billion”, began winding down in January 2025, clients waiting on payouts became its creditors. A monthly schedule leaves more of your money with the provider for longer than a weekly one. See hidden fees.
